ALLIANCE Jiujitsu is The 2008 PAN-AMS TEAM CHAMPS!!!!

ALLIANCE Jiujitsu Team went in and dominated the 2008 PAN-AMERICAN Championships of Brazilian Jiujitsu held in Carson, CA.

Congratulations to all our students and especially the athletes that brought back some nice looking medals!!

Nobi "Nobinho" Kashiwagi took the Gold Medal in the Brown belt Masters Division. Nobinho trained like a machine for this tourney and overwhelmed his opponents with moves they definitely did not see coming (LOL). Congrats Nobinho!!

Dave "The Kid" "The Terrible" "The Monstrous" "The Wolverine" "The Smiling Beast" "The_.... you get the point... Bass is the Bluebelt PAN-AMS Champion.

18 year old Dave Bass — with less than 2yrs of training here at Alliance BJJ NYC — went out and submitted all his opponents (6 game guys) in the Blue belt adult division which consisted of 78 fighters. His opponents all fell to the famous "Bass Triangle" which is becoming a harder riddle to solve than the Bermuda Triangle (Lol). Dave is now looking forward to the World Championships (Mundials) in Long Beach, CA. Congrats young man!!

Frank "The Professor" Portella decided to drop in on a whim and compete in this years PAN-AMS to relieve some stress (what a stud!! Don't try that at home kids!) and ended up taking a Silver medal in the Purple belt Masters division. He had actually won the gold at the bluebelt Master level and was extremely methodical in his performance this year. Congrats Frank!!

Willy "The Tsunami Roll" Rodriguez kicked some butt in the Senior 3 division taking 2nd place in his weight class (Heavy) and coming out with the Bronze medal in the battle for the Open class division. Great Job Willy!!

Honorable mentions to White belt and webmaestro Jack Rusher who decided to have his first jiujitsu tournament experience in the Pan-ams (you're a bigger man than I Jack). Former PAN-AMS Champ Bob Donley also gave a good showing.

Congratulations to Professor Fabio Clemente and Professor Babs Olusanmokun for the work they did in preparing the NYC team!!

Congrats also to Alliance Black belt Instructor in Atlanta Rubens "Cobrinha" Charles for winning the stacked Featherweight division once again.

Alliance Black belt Lucas Lepri took Silver in the lightweight division and is ready to defend his World (Mundials) title this june in Long beach, CA.

Tarsis Humphreys of Alliance Sao Paulo also took the Silver bowing out in the middle of his Finals match with a shoulder injury.

Congrats once again to all team members from Sao Paulo, Atlanta, Finland, Ecuador, Canada, Dallas, Santa Barbara and many other places!!
